The Messy Muse Project wasn’t born in a pristine studio, but in a cluttered corner of my childhood bedroom. A sanctuary of broken dolls and clusters of toys, where I first learned to imagine and let myself breathe.

Growing up as the middle child, always too tall for my age, awkwardly curvy, and sporting unruly curly hair, I hadn't yet learned to love every inch of myself. I often felt like I was just wandering through the background of life, waiting for a spark. Then in about 5th grade, I got that spark I'd been waiting for, when my dad taught me the power of writing. He would tell me to express my feelings down on paper. Those practices and emotions blossomed into a lifelong realization for me. Just because something comes out a little flawed or broken doesn't mean it isn't worthy of love and another chance. "Junk" as some see is actually something beautiful waiting for a chance to be seen again.

Over the decades, that messy corner has become my serenity. Even if it wasn't perfect, it was mine. The pride I started taking in my art began to spread throughout every aspect of my life, and I finally found true joy being ME!

Today, if I’ve been missing for a few hours, you can best believe I’m tucked away there, guaranteed to be plugged in, lost in a good book and my messy, chaoticly organized, and ever-growing project corner.

Sharing art with strangers is scary, but I know there are so many talented, shy creators just like me who just need the encouragement, a friendly nudge or loving "forceful" push to imagine, try, experiment, explore, create and be free.

The Messy Muse Project is my invitation to you. Let’s find the beauty in the "junk" and build a community where every creator has a place to shine.
